Whole-Home Filtration in Tempe, With the Code Work Explained
A whole-home filter treats water at the point it enters your home, so showers, sinks and the washing machine all draw from one cleaner supply. We start with a free water test, match the system to your plumbing and install it to code.
What a Whole-Home Filter Does for Your Home
The filter is plumbed into your main line, often close to the shutoff or at the softener loop many Valley homes already have in the garage. Every drop runs through it before splitting off to the fixtures. A typical setup pairs carbon media, which cuts the chlorine taste and smell in city water, with a sediment stage that traps grit before it reaches faucets and appliance valves.
It is the right call when the problem shows up everywhere, not just in a glass of drinking water. If the shower smells like a pool or your skin feels dry after bathing, filtering only the kitchen tap won't fix it. If drinking water is your only concern, reverse osmosis under the sink may suit you better, and we'll tell you so.
Hardness is a separate issue. Carbon does not remove the minerals that leave white crust on fixtures. If your water test shows heavy scale, we'll talk through pairing the filter with one of our water softeners.
What Comes With Your Install
Your water tested up front
We test your water before suggesting anything, so the system fits what your water actually carries. There is no charge and no obligation.
Sized for how your home uses water
We check your pipe size, count the bathrooms and ask how much water runs at the same time. Too small a filter loses pressure with two showers going; too large a one costs more than it needs to.
Bypass plus shutoff valves
A bypass keeps water flowing to the house while media or cartridges are swapped. A valve on each side of the unit lets it be worked on with your main left on.
Grounding jumper and code checks
If we cut metal pipe, we add a bonding jumper around the filter so the home's electrical ground stays connected. Before starting, we also check what your city asks for on this plumbing change.
Installation at no extra charge
Buy water treatment equipment from us and the install comes with it. A single price covers the equipment and our work at your home, so no separate bill arrives afterward.
Tidy-up and a tour of the system
We take away pipe offcuts and boxes, then point out the bypass and shutoffs and explain how to know when the media or cartridges are due.
When Filtering the Whole House Makes Sense
The bathroom smells like a pool
Hot shower water releases chlorine into the air, so the smell is usually strongest in the bathroom. Carbon at the main line takes it out long before water gets to the shower.
Every faucet has the same off taste
When the bathroom tap tastes like the kitchen tap, the problem starts where water enters the house. A single system on the main line handles both.
Sand or grit in screens and aerators
Grit plugs faucet aerators, the inlet screens on washing machines and ice maker valves. A sediment stage stops it before it gets that far.
Tight skin after bathing
Chlorine in a hot shower or bath can leave skin tight and hair limp. Removing it at the main line is an easy comfort improvement, and a perfectly good reason to want one.
A forgotten filter that came with the house
If your home came with a garage filter and no service history, we can see whether it was plumbed right and still does its job, then tell you straight whether it should be replaced.
How the Job Runs, Start to Finish
- 1
Phone call and water test
You call, we set up your free water test and ask a few questions about your home. You get installed system pricing by phone once we know what the water needs.
- 2
City requirements check
We confirm what your city expects for this kind of plumbing change. If paperwork is needed, we file it and schedule the inspection, and we explain in plain terms what the inspector will look at.
- 3
Install day
We shut off the main, cut in the system with its bypass and valves, add the bonding jumper where needed and flush the new media. Most homes are without water for only part of the day.
- 4
Check and walkthrough
We open the water back up, look for leaks at every joint and check pressure at a few fixtures. Then we show you how the system works and what upkeep to expect.
What Sets Your Price
No two homes are plumbed exactly alike, so we price the installed system once your water is tested rather than guessing up front. The quote lists the equipment, the labor and any city fees, so every dollar is accounted for.
- Size and filter media
- Bigger homes with more bathrooms call for more media and more flow. Catalytic carbon or extra stages are priced higher than a standard carbon tank.
- Install location
- A loop already in the garage keeps the work simple. Tying into the main line somewhere else, or shielding an outdoor unit from sun and heat, takes more time and material.
- What your pipes are made of
- Copper, PEX and older galvanized pipe each take different fittings for a clean connection. When the pipe at the tie-in point is corroded, we may swap a short length so the new joints stay tight.
- Permits and inspection
- Certain jobs require a permit and a visit from an inspector. If yours is one of them, those charges show as separate lines on your quote instead of being folded into the equipment cost.
Whole-Home Filtration Questions
Something not covered here? (480) 660-8598
Will my water pressure drop with a filter on the main line?
Not in a way you'd notice day to day, as long as the system is sized right. A pressure loss usually traces back to a tank too small for the household or a sediment stage that is overdue for a change. That is the reason we match the system to your pipe size and peak use before we quote.
Does a whole-home filter soften my water?
No. Carbon filtration targets chlorine taste, odor and sediment, not hardness minerals. If your test shows scale is the bigger problem, we'll explain how a water softener fits alongside the filter, or instead of it.
Do I need a permit for this?
It depends on the city and the scope of the plumbing change. We check the current requirement for your address before the job and pull the permit when one applies. You won't have to sort that out yourself.
What warranty comes with the system?
We give a 5-year warranty on the equipment valves. Our installation and labor are covered for 5 years too, so if a joint we made gives you trouble, we come back and fix it.
How do I know you're a good fit?
Start with the free water test and ask us anything while we're there. We have 3 five-star Google reviews from customers, and we're happy to walk you through exactly what we'd install and why before you decide.
